Born in Rabat in 1992 and originally from Ahfr, with an academic background combining the know-how of civil engineering and neuroscience, Houyame Rahmani was able to reveal the gist of her two distinctly distant worlds in order to blossom into an artistic expression refned, psychedelic creating a new perception of sacred geometry.
The idea of creating works with “Thread” was born around 2010 and has taken suffcient time to enrich and grow. In 2016, this idea came together for the artist to commit to the project of a frst exhibition called “Fil d’Ariane” in order to rekindle this particular Art which had begun to disappear and, moreover, foreign to Moroccans.
Why “Thread”? Because since the day the artist’s hand unrolls the frst ball of thread for a purpose other than that of sewing or re-stitching, his destiny takes a strange turn.
A beautiful mythical adventure where the weapon is the “Thread”: Launching into a creative labyrinth without knowing where it can lead nor the time it can take for a work to be born and allow it to be reborn. It is also because at the corners of every angle and along every line of a work, there are childhood fgures, equations and elements of nature, and although it is pleasant to see them occur, we must have the means to move away from it in order to reconsider and revisit them.
She chose the Mandala as the concept around which her works will be centered. The mandala meaning circle, and by extension, sphere, environment, community. Furthermore it also describes an object that draws the viewer’s attention to a focal point.
It has become an umbrella term for any plan, chart, or geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically, a microcosm of the universe from the human perspective. In her philosophy, Houyame combines the geometric complexity of her works, sometimes colorful and sometimes refned, and their semantic depth, to reach transcendental states of consciousness of the recipient.
The artist Houyame Rahmani won the international prize of His Highness Sheikh Nasser Bin Hamad for youth creativity, she was ranked third in the 30-25 age category, Plastic Arts sector during the ffth edition of this competition in 2018 in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Houyame, in parallel with her artistic career, she also leads a professional career in the education sector and is eventually a doctoral student at the Faculty of Education Sciences.
