Olivier SWIZ present his third solo exhibition “SHAPED PAINTINGS” at the David Bloch Gallery.
The French artist – represented by the gallery since 2015 – present a series of works on metal.

For this occasion, the artist has chosen to deepen a work on a form of medium already initiated during his previous exhibitions. Thus, a corpus of new works will be deployed, the iconoclastic forms of which are directly drawings from the drawings of the artist who continues his formal research on its urban environment, its architectural changes and its areas in transition.
Here, it is no longer the medium that contains the sketch but the preparatory work that defines the contours of the piece to come. Precise laser cuts of metal thus bend to Olivier’s sharp lines, submit to his deep constructions and free him from the plastic constraints of the rectangular canvas.
By the superposition of the elements and a subtle play of shadows and colors, the viewer is invited to penetrate each work, to see the hidden parts and to make their way among the different layers, as a daring walker would push the doors of an abandoned place.

SWIZ is a french artist born in 1983. He lives and works in Paris.
Swiz develops a passion for painting in his teenage years, when discovering graffiti, in 2000. The young teenager is already drawn to a vision of language combining the experiences of forms, colors and senses.
Swiz started out practicing graffiti, with a marked taste for urban no man’s land. From the streets to the studio, he developed an emancipated and innovative work, focused on writing as a challenging basis for geometrical compositions.
